Hello all
I am in the process of creating a "Network of Networks" of Disabled Peoples' Organisations (DPOs). To explain -
In my work at the UK Disabled Peoples' Council (UKDPC) I have come across several DPOs that are building networks of DPOs in their locality. This is a good thing for a region - it increases the flow of information between DPOs; it can increase a sense of a local disability movement; groups and individuals get to share and swap information, good practice, and resources; and more besides.
These networks are springing up all over the place, and can be created by DPOs, by other 'third sector' organisations, or by the statutory authorities. I am pulling together a 'Network of DPO Networks', to facilitate the sharing of resources, including information and experiences, between networks. If you are aware of such a network in your area in the UK then please let me know about it. The first stage is to find as many as possible. I then hope to plot gaps across the country, and to hold meetings to bring people together to share experiences.
Any information yoiu can send me would be very welcome. Many thanks
Theo Blackmore
