A request: looking for software to support student peer evaluation of written assignments
I am interested to know if anyone is current using software to support peer evaluation. I am referring here to a tool that would support the submission and distribution of students' work (e.g. essays or reports) so that other students could give feedback on it with the originator ultimately receiving comments from other students against some criteria. Note that I am more interested in peer feedback than peer assessment and the awarding of marks.
There are some candidates I know about but I am interested in open source rather than a system you would pay for and I would like to hear from someone actually using this and preferably with large student numbers.
For example SPARKplus might do this but it is not open-source, Calibrated Peer Review is a US system but I would be interested in hearing from someone actively using this. John Hamer in NZ has a system called Aropa developed in computer science.
So the question is: has anyone implemented peer evaluation and supported its implementation with technology? The pros and cons of any system based on experience would also be useful.
I intend to collate what I hear about so will post back to the list in due course.
Thanks
