David Cameron launched our Quality of Life Manifesto early this week, which reaffirms our commitment to the arts and free museums, more and download the full document HERE<http://www.conservatives.com/News/News_stories/2010/04/Conservatives_launch_Quality_of_Life_manifesto.aspx> See pages 10 and 11 for our specific commitments to the arts.

Individual members of the Society of Archivists have voted in favour of the proposal to create a new body in partnership with the National Council on Archives (NCA), and the Association of Chief Archivists in Local Government (ACALG), to bring together the archival and records community into one new organisation, the Archives and Records Association (ARA). The new body will represent the profession and major providers and provide advice to users, more HERE<http://www.archives.org.uk/thesociety/societynews.html>. We think this is great news, and hope that other sectors with multiple bodies will follow suit.
