Salary: £18,440pa (Band 7)
Lambeth Palace Library, the historic library and archive of the Archbishops of Canterbury, invites applications for two posts of Archives Assistant, on one year fixed term contracts, starting in September 2010. The posts are suitable for those seeking experience before undertaking a postgraduate course in archives management. Duties will include assisting in the Reading Room, enquiry work, creating catalogue records using CALM for Archives, and assisting with the Library’s reprographic services.
Candidates must have a good honours degree, preferably in history (or expect to achieve one this summer), good IT and communication skills, and the ability to work unsupervised and as a member of a team. Archival experience would be useful, but it is more important that the successful candidates should be prepared to master a wide range of duties, both routine and professional, with application and enthusiasm.
