We have 2 staff in our Estate Support Services in the Projects team who are trained in accessibility/DDA matters so access is designed in to our projects. The Manager of the maintenance/improvements team has this as his remit too and he Chairs a disability working group for the service which looks at plans and suggests items for change. He has comissioned audits and has been following a programme of asssessing all of our buildings with one of our disabled members of the working group.

We paid for Disabled Go to complete an audit and publish our details online - worth checking out - as any disabled visitor can check out access to particular buildings and services online before the visit.

Subject: Access around Campus
Do any institutions know if they have someone qualified in the physical access requirements of the DDA as part of their Estates Management team, or is it down to the Equality and Diversity personnel to give advice when needed? I think access requirements are too big a requirement for Equality personnel to have to deal with and that someone with estates management experience should take responsibility.
What do others think?
Thanks
Tammy
