I would certainly support the view that such training should only be
delivered by disabled trainers.
Frontline staff tend to be at the 'sharp end' of customer care and usually
represent the service being offered and so are vitally important in
understanding the wider issues and barriers. They will always benefit from
induction and ongoing training at all levels.

Not really a building issue, but a disability one.
I work for a local authority, and we co-ordinate the provision of basic
disability awareness training for council employees - e.g. deaf awareness,
visual impairment awareness, learning difficulty awareness and so on.
We have been asked to provide some basic training in more specific
disabilities, in addition. The ones mentioned were cancer and MS, although
we would be willing to run any disability-related training on a pilot basis.
Does anyone know of any training providers in the West Midlands area who
provide this sort of training? I have tried Googling, but haven't found
anything. We are only looking for 1/2 day courses, 3 hours at most.
Thanks
