The Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is recruiting
2 MR-PHYSICISTS / ENGINEERS (WITH TENURE OPTION)
1 Physicist / Engineer: Head of MR-Imaging
(4 years with tenure-option)
1 Physicist / Engineer: Staff scientist MR-Imaging
(4 years with tenure-option)
for the newly founded Bernstein Center for Neuroimaging Berlin. The Center is a collaboration of the Charité Medical School Berlin, the Humboldt University Berlin (HU) and the Technical University Berlin (TU), headed by Professor John-Dylan Haynes (http://www.bccn-berlin.de/People/haynes).
Job description
We are looking for excellent candidates who seek to combine the safety of a fully tenured service and development position with their own scientific program. For this reason the positions involve 50% service and 50% own research. After an initial 4-year period there will be an option to negotiate full tenure. One of the candidates will function as a head of the group.
Your profile
The successful candidate should hold a Doctorate/PhD in physics, electrical engineering or related field. Desirable fields of expertise include: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ideally with a focus on functional neuroimaging (BOLD-fMRI), physics and electrical engineering of high-field magnets, MR-compatible EEG and TMS, MRI sequence programming, development of stimulus and recording technology.
Background
The center has two new 3T scanners. We are looking to establish a team of three or more staff scientists that coordinates the running of the scanners but also pursues its own research program. Berlin is emerging as an attractive and lively environment for MRI-physics. The new Bernstein Center for Neuroimaging has close links with the MRI-group of the nearby Physical-Technical Federal Institute (PTB) in Berlin, the 7T MRI at the Max Delbrück Center in Berlin Buch, the 7T MRI laboratory at the Max Planck Institute for Cognitive and Neural Sciences, Leipzig and the 7T MRI at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg.
