Hi Sarah,
I think some confusion comes from:
1. Wiley having a login labeled "institutional login" which we recommend for indicating access via the UK Access Management Federation, but in their case doesn't mean that.
See recommended procedure for displaying federated access (via the UK Access Management Federation) on their websites.
Details of which can be found here:
http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/themes/accessmanagement/federation/publisherlogin
2. Also Open Athens has started to become synonymous with access via the Federation (but by Athens not Shibboleth), unfortunately that is not accurate - no one's fault just the way terms sometimes get used.
Obviously the situation will significantly improve once Wiley adopt federated access- which we are pursuing.
JISC Collections will be holding a workshop in June with publishers where issues such as this will be examined.
Hope that helps
Mark

Subject: [LIS-E-RESOURCES] Wiley Interscience
Hi all,
I know the subject of the platform for Wiley Interscience has come up a
few times, but I wondered if anyone else is accessing it via OpenAthens
who might be able to share some words of wisdom with me.
We're getting complaint after complaint from students about accessing
Wiley journals which have filtered down to course committee meetings.
One of the problems is that is seems impossible to tell which
journals/articles one is supposed to have access to until one gets to
article level. I've been trying to impress upon Wiley the importance of
the features we are requesting, and their latest gambit is that they
don't offer access via OpenAthens, and to contact Eduserv.
Is this right? Do they not offer access via OpenAthens? And has anyone
managed to get any information on when/if they might make improvements
to the platform that might make the user experience a little better?
A very confused,
Sarah
