> Due to the successful promotion of the current postholder, applicants with a social science/health service research background are invited for a research post working with a team who are working on two studies. A National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded project aimed at improving pregnancy outcome for obese women (The UPBEAT Study) and its translation into a community setting funded by Guys and St Thomas' Charity (CAN study). The research team has developed an individually tailored ‘life style' package for obese pregnant women, to encourage them to change their diet and physical activity. Working within the MRC Framework for complex interventions, we are now on Phase 2 , with the pilot randomised controlled trials just starting. The postholder will be responsible for conducting the process evaluation of intervention delivery across the two trials, involving a comparative analysis of the acceptability and feasibility of the intervention to participants and providers and of delivery fidelity.
>
> The post provides a unique opportunity for the post holder to acquire a broader knowledge base, work in a team with experienced researchers and develop his/her research skills further. The post is initially available for two years. Closing date 30th April 2010.
