>> We wish to appoint a lecturer/senior lecturer with expertise in any field of Social Anthropology who can demonstrate a strong research record in their chosen field. In addition to developing an exciting research programme the successful applicants will also be expected to undertake a fair share of teaching to support the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Anthropology.

>> Anthropology at Kent was established in 1965 and from 1997 was an independent department within the Faculty of Social Sciences following a merger with the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE). From August 2009, Social Anthropology is now part of the renamed School of Anthropology and Conservation.

>> The School gained top ranking in the 2009 National Student Survey and was judged ‘Excellent’ in the most recent Teaching Quality Assessment. In RAE 2008, 50% of Anthropology’s and 55% of DICE’s outputs were assessed to be world-leading or internationally excellent with a resulting 47% increase in research income to the School. The School provides excellent research training, offering PhD programmes in Anthropology, in Ethnobiology and in Biodiversity Management, as well as research-based MA, MSc and MPhil opportunities.
