Dear list members
I wonder if I could ask for your help? I'm writing a book for Chandos
called "New Directions for Academic Liaison Librarians," in which I plan
to give examples of the wide range of new areas and activities in which
liaison librarians are now involved in addition to the well-established
one of teaching information literacy. I'm aware of virtual worlds as an
area in which many librarians are now active, and wonder if any of you
are involved in projects which you would consider having written up as a
case-study for the book? I'm particularly interested in projects where
librarians are collaborating with academic staff, perhaps to help create
a virtual world or to run a particular application within one. I guess
there are quite a lot of instances of information literacy skills etc
being taught in SL and other virtual worlds, but I'd be especially
interested in anything more unusual!
The idea would be that I would discover more information about your
project via an email interview (conducted in concordance with our
University Ethics Committee guidelines), and that I would write up a
case study. I would then send it back to you for checking, and ensure
that you were happy with all content. I hope you'd see this as good
publicity for your project, and for "new-librarian" skills generally.
If you'd like to email me at [log in to unmask] I'd be very glad to
hear from you. Thank you very much for your help.
Best wishes
Alice Crawford
