Yes- we use v. R2008a for Mac. HUGE difference on my Mac (it's pretty fast, though; off the top of my head, specs: v. 11.4, 2 dual core processors, 4G RAM each) as compared to running same version of MATLAB for PC in Windows XP using Parallels on same machine. If you have been following recent thread re: parallel/multi-core processing w/ SPM/MATLAB, it really comes down to specs of particular machine and where data are read/written.
I'm not in my office right now, but if you would like more info on the various (PC/Mac) machines/performance currently used in our lab, I'd be happy to get back to you. We are currently looking into a new computer to add to our lab and considering Linux based w/ separate HD for running Windows (we use SPM, FSL, FreeSurfer, MRIStudio, etc.) vs. additional Mac power PC.
My advise re: using Mac would be if 1) general specs of current Mac are better than PC and 2) use/considering use of other programs that are solely PC or Mac based.
Good luck,
Julie
