Dear List Members

We are currently recruiting a researcher for a new 1-year project on how
hostel services support homeless drug users (full details below). I would be
very grateful if you would circulate to anyone who might be interested.

Many thanks

Jo

School of Health and Social Care
Oxford Brookes University
Post Doctoral Research Assistant - Supporting Homeless Drug Users in
Emergency Hostels

Starting salary: £24,273, rising annually to £26,524

This is a fixed term position for 12 months commencing on 1 July 2010.

A qualitative researcher is needed for a study which seeks to increase our
understanding of the support needs of homeless drug users who stay in
emergency hostels/nightshelters. The research is being funded by the Sir
Halley Stewart Trust and will be conducted in collaboration with Dr Nat Wright,
Leeds PCT and the University of Leeds. You will work with Professor Joanne
Neale as part of a team and be involved in setting up the study and
conducting semi-structured interviews with homeless drug users. You will also
contribute to analysing the data and disseminating the findings in a range of
media, including good practice guidelines. A good first degree, a PhD (or close
to completion) in a social science subject, and experience of working with
vulnerable adults in either a research or practice capacity are required. Some
evening and weekend work may be necessary.

Please note: the successful applicant will need to be subject to a background
disclosure check by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) before any appointment
can be confirmed.

Ref: 236/17155/BC
Closing date: 19 April 2010
