I completed the SEB internship last year and was able to fulfil my responsibilities without taking any time away from my PhD. All expenses were paid including accommodation (in a very nice hotel) for a week at the SEB conference. The internship therefore cost me nothing but was invaluable in terms of experience. I certainly gained more than I was able to give in terms of training and career opportunities. Whilst there may be ‘internships’ which are just unpaid labour (and I have done a few of those too), this is not one of them.
