The muscles never cease twitching; pushing,
they can't stand; none of them is still ever;
some laugh. Anticipating the next routine,
they go in circles in public spaces
to reproduce the signs they’ve tried learning.
The dead could not be worse off than these fools,
bumping, in misery, into each other;
hats dragged hard over half-shut eyes; headphones
fouling their ears; hands yawn into pockets;
feet drop in fat boots under some decorative words.
