You are invited to join us for this ILIG Informal when the Middlesex
University Commonwealth Fellows for 2010, Abdul Garuba, Lanre Osaniyi
and Hagar Atta-Obeng will be talking about their experiences of working
in Nigeria and Ghana, why they applied for a Commonwealth Fellowship and
what they hope to achieve during their visit to the UK.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC)
supports fellowships for mid-career professionals from developing
Commonwealth countries to spend periods within the UK. Middlesex
University plays host to a number of Fellows on an Annual basis.
Abdul, a past Secretary of the Nigerian Library Association, is a
Systems Librarian based at John Harris Library at the University of
Benin. He wishes to investigate management of electronic resources and
hopes also to implement plan digitisation of theses and dissertations.
Lanre is the Principal Librarian at Redeemer's University in Redemption
City, Nigeria. He is particularly interested in professional development
programmes such as mentoring, collaborative learning and wishes to
address issues connected with effectively incorporating electronic
resources for library users
Hagar is Acting College Librarian K Nkrumah University of Science and
Technology (KNUST), Ghana. She is hoping to improve her skills in modern
library management and especially in the area of e-resource management.
She is also interested in developing training for school librarians for
the new faculty of library science at KNUST.
This is an opportunity to hear more about their experiences, to share
professional expertise and to help colleagues working abroad build a
network of professional contacts. If you have any experience or interest
in the areas detailed above, you are encouraged to attend. Please feel
free to forward this invitation to any colleagues who may be interested.

early evening meetings with a short talk on a theme of international
interest plus plenty of time for questions and networking. They are open
to all and absolutely free. Light refreshments are served which is why
we ask you to let us know you are coming by contacting us by 8th March.
We look forward to seeing you.
