Dear colleagues
WITH APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING
We are pleased to announce that from today, 2 March 2010, all IOP
Publishing journals to which you subscribe will be accessible via
IOPscience, our innovative platform with superior functionality, exciting
new features and a user-friendly interface.
IOPscience has already proven popular among many hundreds of customers, as
well as trial users, since it was launched in September, 2007.
What makes IOPscience different?
IOPscience provides access to subscribed journal content in a modern,
efficient way. It has been designed to make it simple for researchers to
discover relevant content and manage their information.
With IOPscience you can:
- Save time: find relevant content quickly with enhanced search filtering,
re-run previous searches, tag your favorite articles.
- Keep up to date: receive RSS feeds and email alerts when new content is
published.
- Interact and share: embrace social bookmarking to share articles.
- Discover related research: explore relevant articles based on subject
classification codes.
- Make it personal: customize your alerts, save articles of interest, and
view newly published articles within your subject areas.
Don't just take our word for it...
IOPscience was recognized by the 2009 PROSE awards with an Honorable
Mention in the Best Website or Platform category. The awards ? decided by
a panel of publishing professionals, librarians and academics ? recognize
the very best in professional and scholarly publishing.
"Navigating through the website is easy and the webpage is very clear. I
typically can find what I need in less than five clicks." ? Dr. Roberto
Redondo, University of Salamanca, Spain
"Our library has had a very satisfactory experience with IOPscience. It is
a unique platform with multiple features for information, search and
retrieval, developed from a collection of highly rated titles."
- Inna Steklyar, Head of Periodicals Department, Neiman Library of Exact
Sciences and Engineering, Tel-Aviv University, Israel
Seamless transition:
The transition will be seamless and subscribers will be able to access and
browse all content in the usual way. We will transfer all user accounts to
IOPscience, as well as any Table of Contents alerts that users may have
set up. At a later date you can change your links but there is no need to
hurry, our redirects will be in place for the foreseeable future.
Users will still be able to access Electronic Journals (EJs) in the
immediate term. On all EJs pages, readers will see a banner directing
them to IOPscience. The platforms will run concurrently for two to three
weeks for the convenience of our customers. Later in March, redirects
will be put in place, so that anyone attempting to access a page in EJs
will be automatically redirected to an equivalent page in IOPscience. Any
links going to EJs from proxy servers or major link resolvers (such as
Serials Solutions) will also be redirected.

features and functionality in IOPscience. In addition, I encourage you
to click on the "Your questions answered" link on the right side bar. This
information has been compiled based on actual questions and feedback we
have received from IOPscience trial users and I'm sure you will find
some key points of interest.
