As I think Paul Miller has already commented, the NVUG list *is* open. You
cannot search for old threads unless you are a member (the postings are still
accessible, but would have to be scrolled through to find). We have company
(INPS) lurkers and posters, and also a smattering of lurkers from other allied
software companies who occasionally post. (John, is the iSOFT mailing list
closed or open, in answer to Mary?)
I do believe that an active and supported e-mail list is the optimum way to get
the best out of any GP system.
Actually, I don't know anything about any TPP list - can any TPP user tell us
what is available for TPP users? (Because if there is NOT an active list, then
that should be considered as a factor in deciding whether to move systems, IMHO)

I don't think Michael was really concerned about user group lists! ;->
However, thinking about the lists..
I think I should point out - as far as NUG mailing lists goes - that
emis-list is an open list: you don't have to be an EMIS user to join -
or a member of the NUG.
This does place constraints on lurkers replying to the list - although
some posters of problems have come back to the list to say they were
contacted directly!
I believe both the iSoft and INPS user group lists are closed i.e. only
system users can join - which means that the companies can respond
directly with confidence that only their product users will be able to
read the responses..
I have no information about TPP user group lists.
Ignorance on my part.
