We are seeking short paper presentations addressing the theme of the
conference: relationships between surgery, surgical culture and the arts and
humanities, or the wider theme of the ‘pathological’ and the ‘normal’ at the
levels of biological systems, culture (and history), societal organization
and networks, or the interpersonal and intrapersonal. We have a wide brief
on topics – for example, we welcome papers on the pathologies of medical
humanities networks as much as the representation of surgeons and
pathologists on television medi-soaps, the limits of aesthetic surgery or
the uses of simulation and simulacra in surgical training.
‘Paper’ presentation can be interpreted widely to include formal academic
paper, interactive session, visual presentation, performance and so forth.
Your abstract will be peer reviewed by the conference organizers and we will
let you know the outcome as soon as possible.
