Mark, I don't see it as any more problematic than the way anthologies are compiled now--within the printed publication medium. It can never be perfect.

The internet being what it is, I don't see how one could possibly use it as a means of discovery of poets who hadn't been mentioned some other way--friends, critical writing, etc, or by selecting a very few urls (Jacket would be one of mine, for instance) which would tend to keep one's choices thoroughly within limits of taste already in place. I'm pathologically thorough, but any anthologist has to set some kinds of limits, otherwise the book would be a life's work (or life substitute) left incomplete upon death.
