Second Call for Participation
Microscopy Image Analysis for Biomedical Applications
One Day BMVA technical meeting in London, UK, on 21st April 2010
Chairs: Derek Magee (University of Leeds), Stephen McKenna (University
of Dundee), Nasir Rajpoot (University of Warwick)
This one-day symposium will highlight the latest developments in
automatic analysis of microscope images for applications in biology and
medicine. It will bring together the latest research and provide an
opportunity to discuss open challenges specific to large-scale analysis
of biomedical microscopy images. It will feature talks/posters based on
submitted abstracts in addition to talks from invited speakers.
The scope of the symposium includes the development and application of
computational methods for analysis of image data from any microscopic
imaging devices, including multi-spectral, fluorescence, confocal,
phase-contrast, tomographic, electron and multimodal microscopy.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Detection, segmentation and classification of objects and structures
at intracellular, cellular or multi-cellular level.
• Analysis of shape and morphology
• Multispectral analysis
• Motion analysis and tracking in time-lapse data
• Event detection and analysis of dynamics
• Registration of microscopy images (intra-modality and inter-modality)
• Acquisition, storage, communication and visualization of large-scale
image data generated by digital scanners and multi-channel microscopy
• Annotation for machine learning, indexing and retrieval
• Evaluation of algorithms and systems
• Applications in areas such as cell biology, histopathology, diagnosis
and grading, high-throughput screening, drug discovery, plant biology
The meeting chairs are in the process of negotiating a Special Issue in
a relevant journal to which selected presenters will be invited to
submit articles.
Please submit an extended abstract of at most two pages in length.
Contributions should be sent by email attachment (PDF preferred, 2Mb max
please) to Nasir Rajpoot ([log in to unmask]). Deadline for
submission of abstracts: 8 March 2010.
