Dear Colleague,
We are proud to announce the latest issue of Focaal: European Journal of Anthropology has just been published by Berghahn Journals. Articles include Caroline Humphrey and Vera Skvirskaja on the vast, new and semi-legal marketplace of shipping containers on the outskirts of Odessa, Ukraine. As well as Theodore Vetta’s ethnographically grounded analysis of Serbia’s portrayal as a nation unable to choose between a European, urban, and cosmopolitan democrat identity and a patriarchal, peasant, and collectivists nationalist one. Highlighted is a special four-article theme section offering critical perspectives on the persistence of culture talk in the making of Europe.
