Dear Jane,
We did look at our libraries customer care policy which is a front line
function. The key issues that came up are:
a) front line staff would benefit from cultural awareness training
because of the misunderstanding that sometimes occurs whilst dealing
with international students. On the other hand we need to help our
international students understand the culture in this country
especially being respectful whilst dealing with female members of staff.
This is because students from certain countries have not had to do this
before.
b)Access issues in relation to physical access information and
communication did also come up.
We are now looking at how we take these issues forward.
Regards
Anne

Subject: Equality impacting counter/reception services
Dear All,
Does anyone have an EIA checklist, or any experience of equality impact
assessing any of your university counter/reception services please?
The International, Disability and Academic Office counters/receptions
here are looking for specific examples of what they might be missing
against the equality groups.
Thanks
Jane
