Hi;
I am with Philip on this point.
AACORN is a different kind of organisation.
I am happier with Steve's stewardship.
But please don't let friends fall out!
Respect!
David

Hmm, having read all the email traffic thus far, I can’t help but
feel that the issue is not simply one of stylistics, or indeed a
perceived lack of courtesy, but also one of ethos and content. Certainly
there are those, such as I myself I must be frank, who have serious
reservations about the nature of AACORN. By this I refer to what appears
to be its increasing orientation towards the promotion of (often
commercial) arts and aesthetics based approaches to management, rather
than a critical interrogation of their value and function. Don’t
misunderstand me, I welcome the principle that there must be space for
all within such a network. I think the concern I have (as a convenor of
one of the larger streams in the conference), however, is that this
plurality is fast disappearing.
Certainly I feel that the partnership of Steve and the University of
York – if viable – would certainly put my mind more at rest
as to the academic validity of the event. Particularly in terms of it
providing a critical space for those less concerned with celebrating the
fusion of art and management, but rather with exploring the
contradictions of such a position, say through the everyday aesthetic
experiences of employees, and the epistemological insights the aesthetic
might provide for those engaged in such a project, York would be a
positive partner.
As such, I would support giving Steve the time he needs to gain the
support of York if at a possible (and assuming if he remains willing).
Best wishes,
Philip
