sounds like a business model to me and an antiquated belief constraint. i
think technology agnostic is what we should strive for where the most
granular core is interchangeable. it's really all about the atom publishing
rss feed. it's one thing to have your mother ship out there on the web; but,
it's an entirely different ball game to be able to aggregate all your
favorites into one view and having your content enabled to be plugged right
in. i subscribe to all my faves in google reader and share what i like etc.
it's effective.
i was introduced to typepad and noticed it was a pay site, totally not my
thing. BUT it was mentioned on an email list for having some new
techno implementation that made it sound uber.
i do have thoughts on the initial blog length question...but, i'll just keep
those to myself : )
