Hi Lisa,
We have seen this before, and we are working on some (various) possible solutions but I'm afraid that currently there is no immediate fix! It seems that the crash is caused by something in the OSX X11 package - unfortunately switching to different X11 versions doesn't seem to help.
It's interesting that you're using OSX 10.5.8 - I'll start logging versions for which this is happening (I'm using 10.6.2 and haven't spotted the crash for a while, but this definitely doesn't mean that 10.6 is crash free!).
Matthias - would you email the version of OSX that you experienced this crash with?
Thanks for the report, and sorry for the lack of solutions!
