Hello All,
I would like to announce a 2 year Temporary
Lectureship opening in the Social and Cultural Department of Tallinn
University. The post is designed to cover the maternity leave of one of
our members of staff. The deadline to submit CV, cover letter and course proposals is Friday April 17 2010 and interviews will be held on the 26-27 April.
The Social and Cultural Anthropology Department is
housed within the Estonian Institute of Humanities of Tallinn
University and its nurtured by the Institute's collegial and
interdisciplinary staff. The Social and Cultural Anthropology
department currently offers a 4 year BA and a 2 year MA in Social and

Some details about the post:
- contract for 2 academic years full-time to cover maternity leave of one of our members of staff. The posts begins in September 2010.
- PhD in Anthropology is required at the time of appointment.
- teaching responsibility will include to design and read 2 courses
targeted for graduate students, although it is customary that advanced BA
students attend these courses. Ideally, one of these courses would
address a region of expertise. The candidate may also be required to
moderate the weekly MA Seminar, teach Research Methods Course at an MA
level, and supervise an MA project.
- the appointed person will be invited to all departmental meetings and
will be given administrative tasks as agreed during the meetings.
- the appointed person will be invited to participate in the Landscape
and Culture Study Group Seminars that are held fortnightly.
- salary is 15000EEK per month with added bonuses connected to publications
and taking on tasks and responsibilities for the Department.
- there is an option where lecturer can teach with a double load for 2
months, covering all the material of the semestre, and having the rest
of the semestre free to carry out research projects. It would be good
if the lecturer would remain in Tallinn, Estonia, or nearby even
though he or she isnt teaching.
- The working language of the department is English. Knowledge of Estonian is a bonus.
- Special consideration will be give to candidates with a regional focus on Eastern Europe.
