Peter:
I believe the Pacific Smelter is synonymous with the old Selby Smelter on
San Francisco Bay and perhaps the Everett Smelter on Puget Sound, Washington
State. These were lead smelters operated by the American Smelting and
Refining Co. and treated lead-silver ores and concentrates.
The Everett smelter was closed in the early 20th century, and the Selby
smelter was closed in the early 1970s.
I worked at the Selby smelter one summer when going to university.
The following is taken from a short New York Times article of March 24, 1905
and may be of interest as it mentions "Pacific Smelter" and Selby and
Everett smelters.
