Hi All,
Does anyone have any opinions on what might be the mean life of an audio
tape kept in environmental conditions for paper documents and files?
That is: Not magnetically shielded and at varying UK temperatures and
humilities depending on season.
Many thanks in advance,
Rin.

Subject: Systems for secure online delivery of authenticated documents
Dear colleagues
We are in the very early stages of exploring the secure online delivery
of
certain types of authenticated documents. The idea is to use software
which
interfaces with other of our systems to generate authenticated
e-documents
which can then be retrieved by authorised users. Part of the
authentication
uses e-signatures (compliant with EU Digital Signatures Directive
1999/93/EC).
An example would be the transcript of marks issued to students after
graduation, of which several thousand are issued annually. At present
hard
copy transcripts are printed on special paper and have other
authenticating
features: these would have a digital equivalent. As well as being
costly to
produce in hard copy, we are also frequently contacted by potential
employers to verify that the copy of the transcript they have received
from
a graduate is true and accurate. The software would allow the recipient
to
share access to a
document with a third party if they choose.
The supplier we have heard from so far is Digitary
(http://www.digitary.net/) which has some penetration into the HE market
in
the UK & Ireland.
However does anyone know of or have experience with any suppliers of
other
similar products?
Many thanks
Sarah
