How did you celebrate, Dave?
February the little month, the one that in our two countries seems the
longest and sharpest because we think our dragon winter has ended but it
smacks us with one more snow, knots our traffic through Valentine's Day.
One of my colleagues called February "the unforgiving month". And I felt
what she meant. It's always seemed to me a transition month, not just
weatherly, either. On a somehow related note, our Quaker pastor (yesterday
my son reminded me with a laugh that "He wasn't even a Quaker!") began a
tradition of celebrating beginnings, of starting school for the new year,
for example. We'd have an evening with all the kids and parents telling
their stories and feelings about school beginning---and rather than hitting
against the bricks of "must-do" lists and countdowns, I felt a respect, even
reverence, for the renewing event of school.
If you'll stretch your birthday for me, allow a BIG HUG, Dave!
Judy discombobulated, having lost her wallet with all ID, credit cards &
cash....wondering how she'll board that plane from L.A. to Norfolk tomorrow
morning.....will phone the airlines soon....
