Hello,
We would like to invite you to the launch event, 'Public Service in the
Digital Age', and to join the ConnectionFactory network (supported by
the BBC, the AHRC, and the EPSRC Digital Economy programme) that seeks
to bring together academics and media professionals interested in
exploring concepts of public service and public good in the changing
media landscape.
PUBLIC SERVICE IN THE DIGITAL AGE
Confirmed speakers include:
* Richard Deverell, Chief Operating Officer, BBC North;
* William Dutton, Director of Oxford Internet Institute;
* Dougald Hine, co-founder of School of Everything;
* David Gauntlett, author of Making is Connecting.
Speakers and delegates will explore three broad questions:
* How does the traditional 'public service' mission translate into the
online, interactive, user-engaged media of today?
* How should professionals and organisations respond to the creative
challenge posed by activists and amateurs?
* Can a knowledge exchange network, linking researchers and
practitioners, help us to do things better in the future?
The event will be held in central London, at the University of
Westminster, 309 Regent Street, London W1B 2UW on 25 March 2010, from
10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
More information about the event can be found at the ConnectionFactory
website: http://www.connectionfactory.org.uk, where you can also join
the network by following a quick registration procedure. The membership
and the event are free. Please distribute this email amongst your
colleagues. We hope to see you on the day!
