It does seem that some of you are speculating as to the motives of the
clinician/researcher who wishes to download 10,000 references. I will
make some assumptions of my own, that makes such behaviour seem
reasonable.
1 There is, probably, hundreds of researchers in the NHS etc who have
Endnote or Reference Manager databases with excess of 10,000 records. Of
course these may have been accumulated over a period of time.
2 Perhaps this individual wishes to collate everything that she/he has
found on a particular subject.
3 A brief search in PubMed on Breast Neoplasms and Therapeutics
retrieves 43,000 hits, 10,000 records is only 0.055 percent or less or
the total number of records on PubMed.

Hi,
I think that's a pretty clear breach of copyright. Databases are
protected under the Act

I agree with Zena here, it's not so much a case of can you? So much as
should you? Is he intending to create his own searchable database?

I would think this would be illegal, & break the terms of usage.
What on earth is he intending to do with ten thousand references???

I wonder if anyone can help?
One of our users is trying to use the databases at www.library.nhs.uk
and wants to export a large number of references into Endnote - over
10,000. He's not able to do it using these databases and I've suggested
he contact NHS Evidence to check if it is possible, (and it's not just a
glitch) but I was also wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to do
it through the Ovid native interface? I can't test it as we don't have
access to Endnote or similar.
Thanks
Iona
