I suspect that everyone really agrees that it's plagiarism but that the
publishers are hoping to minimise any compensation they might have to
pay. Unless, of course, plagiarism is different in Germany!

Interesting stuff.
I agree with David and think it sounds like a case of plagiarism.
Intertextual mixing is all good, but if you lift entire passages out of
someone else's work and just use them without any acknowledgement, I
think it becomes problematic.
Yes, I think I'd want to read 'Strobo' rather than the celebrated novel,
too. This might all be rather good if inadvertent promotion for
'Strobo'.

Thanks Andy, a hilarious read.
It's interesting to note that the axolotl is an animal, amphibian I
think, whose development arrests at adolescence. This seems appropriate
for someone who might actually utter the phrase like "my theft becomes
authentic the moment something touches my soul."
