· Introductory session which explores what we mean by events and what our motivations are for putting them on
· Events as the public face of your organisation
· Events as fundraisers, for PR or for learning?
· Deciding what type of event will work best for you and developing a clear plan and timeline for it
· Who wants it? Understanding who will come and how to maximise attendance
· Ensuring events are accessible
· Key logistical considerations of opening up collections and archives to the public
· Permissions to use sites/venues
· Licensing; numbers, alcohol, trading, noise, timing
· Local impact on residents and services
· Fire Safety and Police Involvement
· Risk assessment and management
· Team management and communications
· Alcohol and drugs policy
· Security and stewards
· Insurance
· Amenities
· Management on the day
· Follow up and evaluating events
· A checklist to take forward when planning your next event
You'll leave the day with a solid understanding of the key components of a successful event and the confidence to put one on.
