There's still time to register for NISO's February webinar: "What It Takes
to Make It Last: E-Resources Preservation.". this webinar, to be held
February 10, 2010 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. (Eastern time), will provide
attendees with an overview of current digital preservation issues and
standards and an example of a working collaborative digital repository.
Priscilla Caplan, Assistant Director, Florida Center for Library Automation
will provide an introduction to e-preservation and provide a closer look at
the PREMIS (PREservation Metadata: Implementation Strategies) Data
Dictionary standard.
Jeremy York, Assistant Librarian, University of Michigan Library, will
discuss the work underway by HathiTrust to build and preserve a
comprehensive and cooperative digital library to archive and share
electronic resources. The repository already contains over 195 terabytes of
information.
