Lutz Hübner's Gretchen 89ff is a play delving into the mad world of
theatre production. Taking a scene from Goethe's classic `Faust´ as
the basis for the play, we are introduced to ten different pairs of
directors and their actors, each with their own idea as to how Faust
should be performed on stage: from the outrageously inappropriate
Freudianer to the fabulously bossy Diva. This action-packed play
explores the precarious relationship between directors and the cast,
and the sometimes comic, sometimes tragic consequences of
interpretation when putting together a theatre production.
"Die Fäustchen" are a Drama Group consisting of Germanic Studies
students from the University of Sheffield. They are proud to be able
to present this play, which will be entirely in German. Musical
interludes will be provided by the departmental band, playing a
selection of popular German music.
