Dear all,
My research institute, Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics
(ISL) in Germany, is currently working on a project aimed to improve
logistics operations in the provision of Humanitarian Aid in emergency
situations of conflict, natural disasters and others of the like. We
were wondering if you could recommend some NGOs that would be interested
to cooperate with us on this project. Basically, we are interested in
organizations that would like to collaborate with us so that we could
learn from each other. Particularly, we would like to know from these
organizations:
* the logistics challenges/difficulties that they have encountered
while responding and/or distributing Humanitarian aid?
* how they normally responds to, and/or deals with, situations of
natural disasters
* their Distribution system design
* their methods for inventory control:
* cooperation and coordination style with other organizations (if any)
In return we, as an innovative research institute, would explore the
possibility of developing a sustainable logistics system that would
facilitate logistics operations for humanitarian organizations, through
minimization of their response time (effectiveness) and improve
efficiency (reduction of costs) where applicable; subsequently saving
more lives. Hence, your cooperation and provision of any information
from your side will be highly appreciated.
