Hello all
After unsuccessful attempts to attach a doc, below are the details of the
UKDPC NW and W Midlands events.
All the best

1. The Personalisation Agenda - Disabled Peoples’ Organisations (DPOs)
and the statutory authorities working together to transform Social Care
City of Manchester Football Stadium,
Tuesday 23rd March 2010, 10 am – 4 pm
Our NW Regional Forum is being co-produced with three partner
organisations - UKDPC, the National Centre for Integrated Living (NCIL),
and the NHS North West Region. This will be held at the City of Manchester
Football Stadium on Tuesday 23rd March.
We recognise that there is a lot of activity taking place right now in relation to
the Government’s 2010 Centre for Independent Living Agenda. To avoid
duplicating each others’ work we have decided to work together on this
event. We hope to bring some clarity to the NW Regional Agenda.
In the afternoon there will be workshop sessions looking at the following
subjects –
Disabled Peoples’ Organisations (DPOs) and User Led Organisations
(ULOs) - What will help us thrive now and into the future?
- What do DPOs want from UKDPC?
- What do DPOs want from DISLIB?
- What do DPOs want from NCIL?
- What do DPOs want from the statutory authorities?

2. Independent Living: What does it mean for Disabled People living in the
West Midlands?
Coventry Rugby Club
Thursday 25 March, 10.00 – 4.00pm
We are holding this event in partnership with the West Midlands Regional
Disability Network, part of Warwickshire & Coventry Council of Disabled
People.
This is an event for Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) and other
voluntary sector agencies working with disabled people in the West
Midlands. We will critically examine the Department of Health
Personalisation agenda and jointly work out the next steps for DPOs and
Disabled people in the West Midlands.
We are very pleased to welcome a variety of speakers to this event,
including –
• Jaspal Dhani, UKDPC Chief Executive Officer
• Joanna Matthews and Mark Lynes from the West Midlands
Regional Disability Network
• Marcia Richards, the Regional Transformation Policy
Implementation Officer for the Department of Health West Midlands
• Stephen Hodgkins, the Director of Disability LIB (Listen, Include
Build), and
• Roger Read, the Stoke Disability Solutions Chief Executive Officer.
There will be workshop sessions in the afternoon, to answer the following
questions –
• How can DPOs support Inclusive and Independent Living?
• How can we support each other and the work we need to do?
• What added value does a Regional Network bring?
• What can support organisations do to help DPOs in these
challenging times?
