Aid Transparency and Development Finance Conference - Oxford, UK
March 22-26, 2010 | University College, Oxford, UK
On March 22, 2010, the PLAID/AidData database of development finance
will be made available to the public for the first time at the Aid
Transparency and Development Finance Conference at University College
in Oxford, UK. The database includes information on official
environmental and biodiversity assistance. SSWG members and other
interested parties are invited to attend. The conference will
continue over three days which will include presentations and panel
discussions featuring many leading development practitioners,
researchers, and advocates. Confirmed presenters include Stephen
Knack from the World Bank, Homi Kharas from the Brookings Institute,
and Ngaire Woods of University College.
Over the past six years, the PLAID (Project-Level Aid) initiative has
been hard at work creating the world's largest repository of
information on foreign assistance. Building on the foundation of the
OECD's Creditor Reporting System, PLAID has added an additional $1.8
trillion in development assistance to the often-referenced total of
$2.3 trillion. Together with their new partners, Development Gateway,
PLAID is ready to share this important information.

What is AidData?
We now have information on more than 850,000 development activities
financed by approximately 70 countries and multilateral institutions
from 1946 to the present day. The database continues to grow daily,
providing new insight into where aid is going and providing a key
building block for a new international system of aid transparency.
