As Barry says, netbooks are mini laptops so they have standard LCD screens,
not the e-ink screens of the ebook readers. Battery life is less than an
ebook reader too. The advantage of the netbook PCs though is that you just
connect a USB switch adapter, plug in a switch, and away you go. You read
your ebook on the PC with Kindle PC software (free) for Kindle books or
Adobe Digital Editions (free) for EPUB books. Your switch box and driver
need to be able to generate either arrow keys or Page up/Page Down to turn
the pages.
Suppliers like PC World have got buckets of netbooks or you can get them
refurbished from about £160. The Fizzbook Spin might be worth a look - it's
a touch-screen netbook with a .

I think Simon means the small laptops that are referred to as net books.
So they are essentially a laptop, with pc versatility & similar screens.
There has been a fair amount of discussion on US forums about switch
access for ebook readers & I don't believe anyone has done it yet. One
could conceivably take a Kindle apart & switch adapt it, but because of
its miniaturised construction it might not be too easy.

Don't! Get a netbook (i.e. and atom processor based laptop) and run the
kindle (or other ebook software) on it and use a USB switch cable to
allow
switch access... ?! Saves hacking into the box and gives more options,
and
not much more expensive. Or am I missing something?
Great that people are starting to do this instead of page turners!
Cheers
Simon

Hi
I want to buy an e book for a client and have it switch controlled. Does
anyone have any recommendations of which one is better, and what is the
best
way of getting the switch control (switch driver I imagine is
simplest??)
Thanks
Lisa
