Research Associate (pre- or post- doctoral)
Division of Applied Biomedical Research
Applications are invited for a thirty month (2.5 year) pre or postdoctoral
Research Associate position funded by the Parkinson’s Disease Society of the
United Kingdom.
The study will examine the availability, use, safety and value of Assistive
Technology (AT) for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their live-in
carers. This study will collect information through interviews and
questionnaires from 80 couples (PD and carer) in southeast England to find out
what AT they use, how it was provided, how satisfied they are with it and
investigate if there other items of AT they need. The study will investigate
whether the results relate to the severity of the PD and symptoms
experienced. The results will then be reviewed with people from the rest of
England. This will be achieved by inviting volunteers, both people with PD and
carers, to attend focus groups to discuss the key findings, and identify any
further issues of importance to them.
Salary will be offered on grade 6, currently ranging from £33,070 - £33,994 per
annum inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance.
