Journal of the Society of Archivists call for papers
‘Archival Voices’
The October 2010 edition of the Journal of the Society of Archivists is planned
as a themed edition, with a focus on (but not limited to) articles on ‘archival
voices’. The volume will be introduced by an interview with Andrew Motion,
former Poet Laureate, on the Poetry Archive and wider issues relating to
poetry and archives.
Papers are warmly invited on subjects broadly relating to this theme, which
might include:
• Oral history projects
• Sound archives
• The metaphor of the voice in archival theory
• Records as representations of speech acts
• Use of audio recordings in outreach or other projects
• Phonographic techniques
Papers should be no longer than 6,000 words. Guidelines for contributors may

Society of Archivists is a peer-reviewed publication; all articles submitted will
be anonymously reviewed by one or more reviewers prior to acceptance.
