The School of Social and Political Sciences (SSPS), composed of the
departments of Anthropology, Government and International Relations,
Political Economy, Sociology and Social Policy, and Peace and Conflict
Studies, offers innovative degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate
levels that attract the very best students from Australia and overseas.
SSPS is the focus for the strategic development of the social sciences
at Sydney with a view to our becoming Australia's leading centre for
research and teaching in the area.  

The School of Social and Political Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer
Level B in Anthropology for a fulltime continuing appointment. 

 

Applicants for the position should have a PhD in Anthropology. They
should have teaching and course development experience at undergraduate
and/or postgraduate level, and a commitment to innovation and excellence
in teaching. They should have a record of and strong ongoing commitment
to ethnographic research, preferably in the Department's regional foci
of Asia Pacific and Australia, and a strong record of peer-reviewed
publications relative to opportunity.  The preferred areas of expertise
are in teaching and research related to migration, race and ethnicity,
gender, and history and metatheory of anthropological thought. 

 

The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a research profile
compatible with the Department's research strengths and to supervise
honours and postgraduate research students.

The position is full time continuing subject to the completion of a
satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a
University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment
for new appointees.


Remuneration package: a competitive remuneration package is available
consisting of a Level B salary range ($76,250.00 - $90,546); plus leave
loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation.
