Research Associate (Health Surveillance)
Salary Range: £26,720 - £35,860 per annum (pro-rata if part-time)
An exiciting opportunity has arisen to work within the UKCRC funded Centre for
Infection Prevention and Management. The Centre, based at Imperial College
London is a collaboration between the College, the NHS Trust and the HPA and
is now seeking a high quality Research Associate to work with the team.
The Centre aims to integrate infection prevention into Healthcare delivery
through a multidisciplinary approach including health management (looking at
innovation adoption and behaviour change) molecular biology (new
diagnostics), epidemiology (infection surveillance) and education (multi-
professional capacity building).
This post will support work in Infection Surveillance which is using existing
databases within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the NHS, the HPA and
elsewhere to develop predictive models which will enable identification of at
risk patients and effectively direct early intervention.
Working with work-stream leaders Dr Paul Aylin, Professor Alison Holmes and
Professor Mike Catchpole the post-holder will contribute to the successful
running of the research group providing support to existing staff and to PhD
students in the work-stream. The ideal candidate will be able to provide
technical expertise to the programme and will also be expected to submit
publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.
Applicants should have a PhD in Epidemiology, Statistics, Health Services
Research or a related subject, competence in at least one statistical package
and must have a successful track record of research. Applicants must have
experience in the management and analysis of complex data and the
application of relevant models, techniques and methods. Experience of using
SAS is desirable.
This fixed-term post is available for up to a year, full-time or part-time.
