Forwarded form the EASA list, apologies for cross-posting ...
Dear all,
Ramon Sarro and I are currently producing the first issue of a new
journal/annual review, called 'Religion and Society: Advances in Research',
which itself is is part of a new series under the rubric 'Advances in
Research', published by Berghahn (see their latest Anthropology/Sociology
Catalogue, or go to <http://journals.berghahnbooks.com/air-rs/>). This
publication has emerged out of discussions between the editors and Marion
Berghahn regarding the need for a high-quality, high-profile review of
current work in the expanding sub-discipline of the anthropology of
religion. Each issue will contain seven or eight invited papers of 7000
words each, based on topics of general interest in the anthropology of
religion, and produced by an authority in the field. The articles will
include extensive bibliographies, including references and further
recommended readings. It will also profile significant figures in the
field, contain a debate and an 'author meets critics' section, and have a
feature on teaching the anthropology of religion. Each issue will have
reviews of relevant books and films (edited by Ruy Blanes,

We will send more details of the publication later on, but my immediate
reason for writing is that the review will contain a 'news' section,
containing information about new journals, new research groupings or
societies, or any other significant institutional developments relating to
the social scientific study of religion. We are collecting these items at
the moment and want to invite anybody who knows of/is part of such a
development to let us know. We'll be looking for short pieces of around 500
words, detailing the project and providing contact details for it. We need
to have these items finalised by April but feel free to contact us (not the
whole list) in advance to discuss anything that you might have/know about.
It's important to bear in mind that the item has to refer to something that
will retain its relevance beyond the end of 2010.
