My daughter bought me the VEHO current model for a gift. This will scan film and mounted 35mm slides.
I have slides that I took between 1975 and 1982, and conventional colour negatives thereafter.
There are two holders, one for each style, and hold 4-6 originals. There is some software, to convert negatives and do minor tweaks.
I am running XS sp3 on a dell, and it all worked first time on. Internet searching indicates that this is not universal, and some users have found the drivers will not drive the kit on their machines.
Scans are acceptable, but not great (but what do you expect for around the £50 mark?). Film is better than slides. Of course, despite being stored for 30 years in a wooden box, what I can't tell is whether the slides deteriorated. Similarly slides were taken by a less experienced photographer, and so all aspects including exposure and (manual focus) may have left something to be desired.
The software allows tweaking of exposure of the scan (good). I am consistently having to unsharp mask the scans to bring them up to scratch. The dynamic range on slides has been an issue, but may be down to input shortcomings rather than the final scan result.
I have found this to be quite a bit of fun (but time consuming). It is bring back to life some pictures I had long forgotten.

Subject: Re: slide scanner
Anyone have suggestions on this? I want to scan a load of slides, all old fashioned 35mm in mounts so I need a scanner which can handle mounted slides. My own Canon can only take film strips.
There are dedicated units available, my mate in Canada bought one and we could not get it to work---stimulus for all this was our 30 year medical school graduation reunion in Ontario and we wanted to digitise our old slides from the 70s for a facebook page and a slide show over dinner.
So I am thinking of buying a regular scanner with slide attachment and I have seen two by Epson get good mentions.
Any one have any experience with this?
Declan
