Mine have all been typical N ireland appraisals---as in, we know you're
fine, let's not waste much time on this, let's see if we can find a
useful nugget somewhere for you. Mostly they have found a nugget but I
am left wondering if that is due to my appraisers so far being very very
active in all sorts of things pertaining to GP or if it due to the
"appraisal process"? I suspect the former.
I have been vocal in my criticism of it as a waste of time and money,
result being that I was one of a small group of GPs paid to visit
Belfast a year or two back to talk to some quality review org which was
quality reviewing appraisal in N Ireland. I know at least one of the
panel--we spoke after---was quite disgusted at all the box ticking etc
etc. But the final report, which I think was short, focussed on
_process_ and as far as I recall there was nothing on outcomes.
I had hoped that we had got beyond process.
As for docs to disagree with revalidation, well it will probably come
down to crusty old buggers like me who are planning to get permanent
licences in other countries!

<<By implication I am participating in a poorly run one, or the observer
cannot distinguish my remarks from appearing to value it and see it as
important.
The people running it say it is well run and valuable.
And if they get to run revalidation, who would wish to disagree with
them.>>>
