Dear Peter,
All
I guess you want them to draw interiors.
The trip to Torcello is a must. In the end of the only canal in Torcello
you find a paleo Christian basilica that you can visit and draw inside.
Next to La Salute you have the Peggy Guggenheim museum (nice court
yard). I agree that all churches are interesting but my favourites are
the Palladian: Il Redentore, S. Giorgio Maggiore and S. Pietro in
Castelo (very difficult to find if you are walking from S. Marco). For
the other two you take the vaporetto in an area called le Zattere, in
Dorsoduro near the Dogana point (also near La Salute).
You must go to the Accademia the best small museum in the world for
Painting.
The Scuola S, Rocco is famous for the paintings in the ceiling but also
have delirious interiors.
As I recall near the Jewish ghetto there are nice bars (which is also
important).
But since you are going to Venice you should take one day for Vicenza.
It is less than an hour train trip. There you can visit the Teatro
Olimpico (with fake perspective) and visit the Villa Capra (La Rotonda)
and the Basilica in the main square.
Maybe I'll remember more stuff soon,
Best,
Eduardo
