Statistician, London
One of the UK’s leading specialist consultancies is seeking a dynamic and
motivated Statistician to join them at their offices in London.
Role and Responsibilities
• Proactively assisting and contributing to the research and
development of statistical models
• The application of existing data-analysis experience to discover
novel relationships in a rich large database
• Maintaining and updating the statistical models that feed our main
products
• New product research and the application and supervision of
adopted processes
• A mix of research and application ensuring delivery deadlines are met
as well as understanding, developing and implementing methodology
• Statistical analysis to include: Multivariate techniques including
survival analysis and GLMs, Data-mining techniques (e.g. clustering) to
identify and discover key covariates in a uniquely rich and diverse data- pool.
The ideal candidate will be degree educated in a relevant subject such as
statistics and have an ability to work on problems and deliver completed work
to fixed deadlines.
Experience
• Previous work experience/familiarity with life assurance or pensions is
desirable
• Proven statistical skills and techniques
• The ability to apply pragmatic judgment
• Strong IT skills in particular, programming experience in R
• Creative and decisive with an ability to create ideas and solutions,
gain buy in and take them through to conclusion and implementation
• Strong methodological/theory skills
• The ability to manage a large projects/pieces of work and break
them down in to manageable chunks to ensure delivery of key milestones at
agreed times
• A collegiate team player, who uses team resources and knowledge to
create solutions (rather than working independently)
• Capable and interested in working on a mix of research and
application (e.g. analysis and working to deadlines as well as the development
and implementation of methodology)
• Familiarity with one or more Bayesian techniques and financial
modelling
