The Centre for Transport Studies is pleased to welcome
Niovi Karathodorou (PhD researcher at the Railway and Transport Strategy Centre at Imperial College London)
to lead a seminar entitled
The Measurement of Land Use Mix
to be held
today, 20th January at 16:00
Please join us for presentation and discussion at
Room 609, Skempton Building, Imperial College London

About the Seminar
The mixing of residential and non-residential uses is often associated with shorter travel distances, reduced car usage and increased walking and public transport shares. Despite the growing interest on the effects of land use mix, little attention has been paid on how it should be measured. The presentation will first review the measures that have been used in the transport literature. It will then present a simulation experiment to examine their properties and investigate how the choice of metric can affect results.
About the Speaker
Niovi Karathodorou is a PhD researcher at the Railway and Transport Strategy Centre at Imperial College London. She holds an MSc in Transport from Imperial College London and a BA in Mathematics from Cambridge University. She is currently working on the effects of land use mix on travel behavior.
About the CTS Seminar Series
The CTS seminar series aims to facilitate discussion on current research topics in the transport field. Seminars are held jointly with our colleagues in the Centre for Transport Studies at University College London. They are usually held on Wednesday afternoons at Imperial College London or University College London. Seminars are free of charge and open to all interested parties. Booking is not required.
